Hotels for the New Human Race

posted on: April 7, 2016

In the industry of Interior Design both hospitality and residential we have the job of telling a story. As the creator of any good story it should be personal, original & carry distinction. Distinction defined as: excellence that sets someone or something apart from others can’t be replicated, prototypical or grown in the fields. The DNA and characteristics are too unique resembling that of the human race. Millennial, Gen X, Baby boomer & Traditionalist all have one thing in common, we are all human. As humans we all have comforts and needs but then comes the unexpected; that experience that evokes a spark of fire within us and creates a memorable story. There are many hotels and places we can stay in around the world so why not choose a place that lights the match. Click on the images below for some of my favorite hotel brands, Citizen M and Thompson Hotels.

Power Of Women

posted on: March 30, 2016

I recently came across these amazing fold over bags with leather tassels and was intrigued by the uniqueness of each handmade clutch. As I was browsing their site, I began to read the empowering story and the woman behind these bags. Paula Minnis, founder of Gaia empowered women, employs resettled refugee women in Dallas TX to make these handmade creations. By using vintage and repurposed materials for Gaia products, each item is crafted in its own unique way. The rich colors and textures of the textiles she selects for each of her bags and accessories and the attention to detail makes my design heart happy. Seeing the beauty of helping others grow and flourish in a new environment is such amazing concept. I love Paula’s quote “Respecting the Earth and Rebuilding Lives.”  Go to www.gaiaforwomen.com to shop and learn more about this amazing brand.

All about Essential Oil Bracelets

I have been using essential oils for over a year now.  They are incorporated into my daily routine by either applying them to my skin, diffusing them in my home, and even here at the design studio.  I love mixing blends and oils to bring out energy, uplifting spirits, focusing tactics, and good vibes. I am loving these Me +De handmade essential oil bracelets functionality and design. The black porous lava rock stones absorb the oils and leave a lasting scent and usage all throughout the day.  Some of my favorite blends “Stress Away” and “Allergy Blend” are from Sweet Olie. Hopefully this provided some inspiration to learn more and find ways to incorporate natural oils into your own personal daily routine. What a difference they can make!

Finell is a brand I was introduced to at WestEdge Design Fair in Santa Monica and I fell in love with their minimalistic yet versatile designs. This brand designs anything from serve ware, porcelain dinning sets, to handbags. Every product can easily be a statement piece, not to mention a product that can actually make life easier with certain pieces made to grip and prevent spills!

BURBS

Who would have known that this iconic brand exploded and blew the minds of us simple folk because of the innovation of weatherproof technology? And all this time I thought Burberry’s clothing and accessories were just another fine thing in life. I must say; I love a good design with reason behind it.

Clear out your clutter for the New Year!

What better incentive to start out the New Year in a fresh fabulous way other than to de-clutter all the stuff that, let’s be honest, either still has tags on it or that you never wear anymore. In addition, what if you could contribute to your favorite charity while doing it! Fashion Project, an online community, brings together these two wants and makes them a wonderful reality. 55% of each item you donate then sold on their website goes towards the organization of your choice. What’s even more fun, is that you are able to start your own fundraising page through their website to get your family, friends, and others involved in selling your items for a cause close to your heart. This amazing company has been able to reach over 34 countries and partner with over 3,000 non-profits in the short time that they have been in business. I love that you are able to make an impact in other people’s lives around the world while maybe purchasing some great new items for yourself toward someone else’s cause. Now that’s a New Year’s resolution I can get on board with!
